A Romantic Wedding Destination In The Golden Triangle

A Romantic Wedding Destination In The Golden Triangle
By: Peter R Stewart

A Romantic Wedding Destination could be The Four Seasons Tented Camp in the Golden Triangle on the borders of Thailand. It is perfectly legal to get married in Thailand, so it should be perfectly possible to do the deed at the Four Seasons Tented Camp, which after all is an hotel anyway.

Even if the Romantic wedding destination were to be in a hotel in Bangkok, then the Golden Triangle would make such a fabulous romantic destination for a honeymoon.

Just getting to the Four Seasons Tented Camp in the Golden Triangle is a journey of which dreams are made of.

Even if it isnt to be a romantic wedding destination you will be treated like royalty from the moment you arrive at Chiang Rai Airport, and escorted to your Land Rover for the one hour fifteen minute journey on dirt roads through jungle, bags carried refreshments and cold towels as well.

Arrival at a hut on the other side of the river from the Four Seasons Tented Camp, your luggage will vanish and reappear in your tent, life jackets will be donned, and you will board a traditional Thai Boat. You will see the Elephant Camp, where you will spend time with the elephants, and the Burma Bar where you will spend time with the cocktails watching the sunset over Burma!! You will be staggered that one end to the other the Four Seasons Tented Camp is half a mile.

This whole journey and arrival is about as exotic as it can get. A journey by riverboat through exotic bamboo jungles to a corner of the world known as the Golden Triangle on the border of Thailand where it meets two other countries, you will reach the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. An arrival where you bang a gong three times before ascending the stairs.

Here you will find a luxurious camp of fifteen well spaced tents high up on the banks of the Ruak River, but these arent tents like boy scout tents. Firstly they are suspended over the jungle like a treehouse on stilts.

These are splendid affairs with everything a lovely shade of cream, and not the green of canvas.

Huge soft beds, either Kingsize or two Queensize with feather pillows, how luxurious and a perfect romantic travel destination!!

The bath is hammered copper, and is big enough to fit two, but typically if you are in the Silver tent which is at the edge of the property then your bath will be silver!! In addition there is an outdoor shower, with amazing views, and a verandah which is almost as big as your room.

If your final romantic destination is to be the Silver tent, then you are in for a hike, which is up hill and down dale including steps, and crossing a suspended bridge. Incidentally each time you cross it, you will hear the Indiana Jones music playing, how over the top is that!!

When you want to go anywhere you will be accompanied with or without lanterns but always a guide if you want although you will be equipped with flashlights. The attention to detail from the staff is quite outstanding, they are always there when needed, but totally unobtrusive when not

The meals, and this is an all inclusive hotel, and this means drinks as well, are a Thai/Burmese/Laotian variety, and you will find there is something for everyone, and the quality is quite magnificent.

Whatever you do at this romantic travel destination you must take the tour, firstly escorted to the Golden Triangle by boat and sit on the Mekong River in Thailand, Burma and Laos all at the same time.

Dont miss the elephants either, for you will spend a day Elephant Mahout Training and the Jungle Trek after you have learned what to do.

This day is unforgettable as will be your stay at The Four Seasons Tented Camp at the Golden Triangle. No children, no Televisions, an ideal romantic wedding destination or a very romantic destination. Its expensive but amazing, and in this life you tend to get what you are prepared to pay for.

Plan a Luxury Trip to Bangkok

Posted by chris on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 , under |

By: WJaegel

A luxury vacation or trip is perhaps the dream of everyone. Just imagine if the trip is to such a destination that is a blend of modern and ancient and which offers an array of options to see and do. One such destination is Bangkok, situated close to the Gulf of Thailand, on the eastern banks of the Chao Phraya River, in the south-west region of Thailand.

Covering an area of about 1600 square kilometers, Bangkok is regarded as the gateway to the country, and is made up of about 50 Khets or districts. Founded as the capital of the country in 1782, Bangkok has now become a modern destination with towering skyline and well maintained establishments, al though retaining its ancient glories. No wonder why many tourist organizations as well as magazines have rated Bangkok among the top tourist destinations in the world.

Bangkok boasts of such a great number of attractions that it is quite difficult to list them all. Of which, perhaps the most noteworthy are exquisite palaces and ancient shrines in the region such as Grand Palace, which would be the first attraction that comes into the mind when one think about the city.

Suan Pakkad Palace, which served as the residence of Princess Chumphot; Wat Trai Mit, whose centerpiece is a golden image of Lord Buddha; Wat Mahathat, which is home to Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University; Wat Pho, the oldest as well as largest of its kind in the city, which is much famed for its mural paintings and inscriptions; Wat Arun, with a 79-metre-high pagoda; and Wat Ratchabophit, whose architecture is a blend of traditional and western styles.

A visit to Bangkok would not to be complete without taking a tour to some of the fascinating museums in the city such as National Museum, with a vast selection of items collected from Neolithic and Ayutthaya periods; National Gallery Museum, exhibiting both traditional and contemporary works created by Thai artists; Museum of Imagery Technology, the first camera and photograph museum in Asia.

Science Museum, with an interesting aquarium, a planetarium, and several other sections for entertainment and education; Philatelic Museum, which is a must-see for stamp collectors; and Royal Barge National Museum, which has on display an array of royal barges that were used during royal occasions.

Interesting attractions in Bangkok also include Dusit Zoo, boasting of more than 200 mammals, 150 reptiles, and 1000 birds; Pasteur Institute or Snake Farm, with an amazing collection of poisonous snakes; Thai Cat Palace, featuring several breeds of cats such as Siamese, white pure Maeo Khao Mani, and diamond-eyed cats. Thus goes on the attractions in the city.

Bangkok has something for everyone. For instance, if you are a shopping enthusiast, some excellent options are available in destinations like Chinatown, a business center packed with a plethora of shopping malls, Chatuchak Weekend Market, a huge open ground where everything from food and clothing items to handicraft items and pets can be shopped, and Pak Khlong Talat - the largest wholesale market in the country to shop all types of vegetables and cut flowers.

Likewise, while your stay in the city, take a cruise along the much celebrated Chao Phraya River to experience the majestic beauty of the destination. For fun and recreation, some better options are available in the form of Magic Land, Siam Water Park, and Dream World. Apart from these, there are a myriad of centers in the city presenting Thai cultural shows such as National Theatre, Thailand Cultural Centre, and Chalerm Krung Royal Theatre.

In short, Bangkok has everything to make your vacation truly unforgettable as well as enjoyable. A host of accommodation options, especially luxurious, are there for visitors who want to spend their vacation in Bangkok in style and elegance. Many of the five-star accommodation choices are based in the central Silom district of the city. Some of these hotels are attached with more than 700 rooms and provide options to choose from suites, standard rooms, deluxe rooms, and apartments that are suitable for long stays.

Further, many of the upscale hotels in the city are excellent dining facilities. Even some render superb choices for fitness and rejuvenation in the form of fitness centers and spa facilities. Apart from these, some luxury hotels in the region offer packages for such events as wedding parties.

Mostly, these hotels are in close proximity to some of the top attractions in the city. An added advantage is that many of them are within easy reach of almost all major transport system such as the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the Saphan Taksin station of the Skytrain, which is the elevated metro system of the city.

Since many of the hotels have their own websites with rates and pictures of rooms, this allows you choose an accommodation of your choice and book it in advance via online. All you have to do is to let them know your preferences and rest they will take care!

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently owns and manages 54 hotels under Shangri-La and Traders brands with a rooms inventory of over 27,000. Shangri-La hotels are five-star deluxe properties featuring extensive luxury facilities and services.

Symptoms That You Need To Go On A Luxury Vacation

Posted by chris on Saturday, February 9, 2008 , under | comments (1)

Mind you, not just a vacation, but a luxury vacation.

At some point in our lives, we all deserve a break from the stress brought by work or by people and yes, stress brought by nothing to do. Taking a vacation is so easy to do and say. You have the weekends to go on a quick escape but then, there’s the adjective quick, it’s like you have one worry-free night. Why is this so?

Let’s say you’re the regular working citizen and your rest days are on weekends. On Friday night, you think of the place to go and rest. So, stress is all over the place from that point. You only got to almost fully relax on a Saturday night. On the eve of Sunday, you will again stress yourself of the thought that you have to go back to work again the next day.

A luxury vacation can immensely take you away from this vacation dilemma. I have been able to luckily go on a luxury vacation once. It was during the time that the show I was working on got good ratings and the big bosses decided (finally) to give us a long, most-deserved vacation and a healthy sum of bonus. So, I used up all my savings and joined an auction for a vacation hotspot in Hawaii. It lasted 5 days and 4 nights and I was able to get a body scrub and a bikini wax, and met the friendliest scuba diving instructor on Maui but then wasn’t able to get his number. ( I’m never good on long distance romances).

As a hard-working citizen myself who diligently pays my taxes (even though I’m cynical if it being put into the best use), I have sort of diagnosed myself of the glaring physical and psychological signs that I need to go on a luxury vacation.

1.You have the budget.

Ok, this is the most obvious reason to book at a luxury vacation hotspot. But it is reality. Sometimes, in order to get the best, you have to spend more than the usual. And luxury vacation getaways do have expensive price tags.

2.You look like you haven’t slept for a month.

Hours and days still qualify for the tolerable level. But if you look in the mirror on a Saturday morning and you look like 20 years older and you’ve bitten your fingernails before making a report, then you have been sleepless for a month and a luxury vacation is the way to beat physical deteriorations.

3.You have been offered to go on a luxury vacation.

Now if someone has actually tagged you to a luxury vacation and you said no. You need professional help. It’s like fate is slapping you in the face and telling you to go away and be merry even if it will be the first and last time that you’ll be able to go to a luxury vacation.

4.You have blessed with a paid time off.

Just like in my case, if you have been awarded with a few days of blissful break from work, then it’s time. Operative word here is paid leave. It makes you feel that you have something to go back to even if you completely indulge in that vacation. You won’t have to limit your happiness.

5.Your work is your world but you experience heartburns when you wake up in the morning.

If you’re seeing anybody ( I meant literally and socially) and you feel like just sleeping the day out even if you slept as early as 8 the previous night, pr you experience heartburns, then a luxury vacation is damage control.

Work and money will be worthless if we feel miserable when we go home. Sure, going on a luxury vacation is costly, but the joy and happiness you will be able to feel while on one is priceless.

Bangkok Nightlife - Do's & Dont's

Thailand is known for its beauty as well as its active nightlife. Many people, from reading about Bangkok's bars and parties, believe that Thailand is a country where "anything goes." This is a misconception. There are laws and regulations in Thailand just like there are anywhere else, so you should familiarize yourself with them before you go.

When traveling in a foreign country, you should not carry certain documents with you unless you know in advance that you will need them. You will almost certainly need your original travel documents when you want to board an international airplane flight. Otherwise, you should make a photocopy of documents such as your driver's license, passport, and birth certificate and store the originals in a hotel safe.
Bangkok pubs and drinking establishments are a gold mine for pick pockets and all other type of illegal activity because of large number of tourists that visit them. If you drink or do drugs, you should use extreme caution and always keep your personal property close to your person at all times.
Additionally because of the increased popularity for everyone, Thailand's government and bar owners have worked to pass laws that will make tourists feel safer and be better able to enjoy themselves. For example, identification is now required at the entrance before anyone can enter a bar. To guarantee your own entry, you might want to call ahead and ask if your passport will suffice to allow you entry into the place you

want to visit.
Much like the United States, second hand smoke has become a major issue in Thailand. Because of this, there are new laws about if and when patrons at bangkok bars are allowed to smoke. The laws are constantly changing and depend on the time of day, day of the week, and the particular club. It is always best to check ahead if being able to smoke is important to you.
Strip clubs are an extremely popular type of bar in Bangkok. These places are open late at night. Compared to clubs and bars in the United States, Thailand's clubs have more relaxed rules. Thailand has different laws pertaining to these establishments. "Katoeys" or transvestites are common terms heard in Bangkok bars. Knowing a little about the culture of where you are visiting can save you trouble and embarrassment in foreign lands.

Bangkok Attractions - Places And Activities You Musn't Miss by: Aimee C. Barnard

Going to Bangkok for your holidays? Here are 10 must see Bangkok attractions and must do activities in the city of of angels.

1. Get on a river taxi and see the beauty of the Chao Praya River.

A very different view of Bangkok I’ve got to say. If you’re the adventurer, you can just jump on one at any of its terminals. Just be fast enough as the boats ( water taxis ) hardly stop. Otherwise, book a tour from one of the hotels by the river such as The Royal Orchid Sheraton, Shangri la or The Peninsula.

2. Rub elbows with the locals and tourists at the Weekend market, Chatuchak/Jatujak

It can get very hot in here but it’s an excellent place to see the wares of Thailand. You might even find a good buy along the way. Thai ( and not so Thai ) goods available from antique furniture to fake jeans.

3.See the wonders of the Grand Palace

All hail the Queen of England, but her Buckingham Palace is nothing compared to this glorious work of art in the middle of Bangkok.

4.Have a Thai massage in Wat Po and if you have the time, take the 10-day Thai Massage course

If you don’t get a Thai massage in Thailand then you haven’t been to Thailand at all. Experience this somewhat bone breaking yet de-stressing technique right from where it originated. Or if that’s a bit too much, go for the foot massage instead.

5.Have A Relaxing Spa At The Banyan

A relaxing spa retreat right in the middle of the city. You can choose from a 1 hour facial treatment or if you have time to spare, have a 7 hour Banyan package and spoil yourself mad.

6.Visit the Floating Market

It may just be another commercial avenue for tourists to spend their dollars, but if you go to the floating market early in the morning when the “river-folk” are actually buying and selling goods mindless of the tourists, then it’s a very good cultural experience.

7.Haggle at the night markets

Sure many goods are over-priced but if you know how to haggle and how much you’re willing to pay for what you’re buying, this can be very fun. If you go very early, just when the shops are opening, you might even get the prices real low ( first buyers luck!)

8.Shop Till You Drop

Shopping is the Thai’s national past time and wherever you are in Bangkok, you will never run out of shops to explore. You’ll find practically everything in this City Of Angels and at very reasonable prices to boot. For reasonable priced clothes, go to Pratunum Market; for little trinkets, go to Yaowarat in Chinatown; for bargain software, go to Panthip plaza, and for designer clothes, try Central Plaza or The Emporium Shopping Center.

9.Try Thai cuisine

You’ve had Thai food in your country and I’m sure it’s good; but Thai food cooked in Thailand, is in my opinion, just heavenly! Just be sure to know the words, Mai Pet ( My Pet ). This means not spicy in Thai, but you’ll probably be wondering how hot the spicy dishes are after you’ve bit into your first chilli!

10.See An Elephant Show

I know they should be in the wild and all that…but if I were an elephant, this humiliation of dancing in front of amused humans is much better than the alternative which is walking on the hot streets of Bangkok waiting for tourists to buy me a piece of sugar cane for food. And I have to say, this is one show I enjoy. Watch out for the baby elephants! They’re a real treat!

A Kenya Safari Holiday Based In Chyulu Hills National Park
by: Peter R Stewart

Before booking a Kenya Safari Holiday, perhaps even a honeymoon in Kenya, you need to do your homework.
It is possible you might never have heard of Campi Ya Kanzi which is in the Chyulu Hills National Park, but this would be the perfect place for a luxury African safari.

Campi Ya Kanzi means ‘Camp of The Hidden Treasure’, but effectively for you the hidden treasure is the sheer quality of this luxury tented safari camp in Southern Kenya, which is almost in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro which is only 35 miles away, and it lies within a 400 square mile private ranch.

There are outstanding features concerning Campi Ya Kanzi making it an outstanding base for a luxury African safari and some of them are as follows.

The maximum number of guests is limited to fourteen in six thatched roof tented cottages, and the two suites called Hemingway and Simba. Each tented cottage is made of stones fabric and wood.

The tented cottages all have different views and are extremely private, just one reason that Campi Ya Kanzi is a must visit on a honeymoon in Kenya.

The suites all feature a king size bed, a dressing room, and the bathrooms have double wash hand basins.

The cottages have either twin or king size beds, and have like the suites a full size bath, shower, bidet, flush toilet and hot and cold running water. Electricity is supplied by a solar system to every cottage.

Elegance is added to by the fact that the plumbing fixtures are brass, and fresh flowers are replaced every day.

Each cottage as Camp Ya Kanzi has a wide veranda with superb views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Tsavo Hills.

Each guesthouse has a designated Maasai attendant, and at night the camp is patrolled by guards so you can feel safe and totally secure at Campi Ya Kanzi.

The meals are all served at Tembo House which is the clubhouse at the epicentre of the camp. Like the cottages it is made of local materials and thatch. It is open to the outside and the views of Kilimanjaro from the terrace are to put it mildly spectacular. It also has a large lounge for relaxing reading and having a quiet drink.

Tembo House is more like being a guest in a friend’s home than an hotel. Even dining is at a large wooden family dining table, set with fine china, silverware and crystal to further this impression, and food which has an Italian theme, and is of course home cooked by specially trained chefs is superb, but stands alongside local and international dishes, plus vegetables from the vegetable garden, local fresh milk and eggs from the chickens.

Campi Ya Kanzi has two goals, the first of which is to help the Maasai preserve their wildlife heritage. The second is to give you the most memorable vacation of your life.

Your safari day will start with coffee or tea brought to your cottage by your Maasai attendant, and then after enjoying the view from the verandah you will have a morning game drive, or if you would prefer a walk. Breakfast follows with fresh local fruit, then possibly an escorted safari on foot. Campi Ya Kanzi is famous and rightly so for its foot safaris. The Maasai game trackers will go out first, then you will follow in your own vehicle, getting close enough to whatever game you have indicated you want to see. It is then on foot, with your armed professional guide and the trackers. In this way you will get close and personal, whilst remaining safe at all times.

All of this is as far as you can get from the mass vehicle pursuit of animals in the Masai Mara, and indeed you will never want it any other way in the future.

All of the activity in the bush is what you want and not part of a rigid program. You will almost certainly see all of the big five, but on foot, and what could be more exciting than that.

If you want to take a luxury African safari, or have your honeymoon in Kenya, then Campi Ya Kanzi could be the perfect solution plus the fact every dollar you spend helps the Maasai preserve their wildlife heritage.
